Did Vader actually die in the original Star Wars movie, now known as A New Hope?

I know it was changed quickly to make him available for the sequel, but I saw the movie three times in the weeks after its premiere and Darth Vader definitely died in the trench, bumping into his wing-man after Han Solo kills the second wing-man. This fact seems to have been expunged from the Internet. Was the plot to the original Star Wars movie changed as I remember? Is there any video evidence?...Read more

star wars - How did the Millennium Falcon escape discovery?

Given that the Millennium Falcon was using sublight ion drives when careening at the bridge of the Avenger (Captain Needa's ship), why could they not track the ion drive emissions and see where it stops? If the ion trail just ceases to exist on the "back" of the bridge area, send a TIE fighter to take a look.Alternatively, there should also have been some fairly substantial sound from the hull when the manual grapple (And/or magnetic grapple) was employed to bring the MF to the sudden halt necessary. (or even some stormtrooper looking out a ran...Read more

Which would win in a battle between a Mon Calamari star cruiser and an Imperial Star Destroyer?

It is often seen in major Star Wars space battles that rebel fleets, containing Mon Calamari star cruisers, fight Imperial star destroyers. However, its appears (from my perception) that both can be (relatively) easily destroyed by other smaller star fighters, such as X-Wings or TIE fighters (or at least depicted in Star Wars Rebels and at the Battle of Endor.)My question is this: Which would win between a Mon Calamari star cruiser and an Imperial Star Destroyer, taking into account if it was a single ship-on-ship battle? For the sake of adding...Read more

Falling space debris defence systems in the Star wars universe

I was recently watching Episode 3 and a few clone wars episodes, and I found myself thinking during the opening battle between the Republic and General Grievous' forces above Coruscant, on a planet so densely populated where potentially thousands of inhabitants can be killed from a drifting capital class ship with a decaying orbit during space battles what defenses are in place? Is there any instances of some form of emergency services that tractor beam chunks of debris to safe landing places or repulsor towers that can slow or suspend it until ...Read more

Food in the Star Wars Universe?

Are the foods in the Star Wars Universe the same as ours'? Do they have strawberries or potatoes or something? I know that they might have some food other than the food that we also have, but I'm wondering if they have any food like ours'....Read more

Why is Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars: Clone Wars?

Since the Phantom Menace was released in 1999, Jar Jar Binks has been almost universally hated by audiences.Fast forward to 2008, Star Wars: Clone Wars season 1 airs, and oddly Jar Jar Binks is taking big screen time in episodes such as Bombad Jedi and The Gungan General. My question is, why? Please, why? Why did the writers of Star Wars: Clone Wars include such an unpopular character?...Read more

Is the Star Wars galaxy (or the Force) dying?

After a quick read of the timeline on Wookieepedia and seeing the comments on "Why is Luke's cybernetic hand superior to the one Anakin receives?" the thought occured to me that the Star Wars galaxy looks to be in an extended state of stagnation and/or decline. For most of the galaxy's life it appears that nearly all interstellar travel requires hyperdrive starships, the ubiqutious blaster remains the weapon of choice and droids seem to have received only aesthetic external upgrades. While prior to the formation of the Galactic Republic the dom...Read more

What actually happens between Star Wars Episode III and IV?

I have read some books based between these two episodes and even played some games. But what actually happens between these two episodes, I understand the Rebel Alliance was born with the help of "Starkiller" if you accept that he was there, otherwise many believe it was just Senators Organa, Mon Morthma and Garm Bel Iblis. But what else happened. Did anyone else challenge the Emperor? or is it just a very boring story between them? Some books point to Darth Vader having a secret apprentice, which I can see being "StarKiller" from Star Wars the...Read more

What are the planets that appear in “Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens?”

I was surprised when I realised that Jakku was not the camp Rey was scavenging/living at but the name of the entire planet show grew up on. I had assumed early on in the movie she was on Tatooine as both other trilogies started there. Following that, I tried to keep track of the names of other planets shown and failed miserably. This is odd because I am familiar with most of the names of planets in the other trilogies. What are the names of all of the planets shown in Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens?...Read more

When does the movie "Solo: A Star Wars Story" take place in relation to Star Wars Episodes 1-6?

Han Solo is a young man in the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story. This obviously places the film before Episode 4, but its relation to Episodes 1-3 confuses me. Darth Maul makes an appearance at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story. I thought this meant the movie takes place before Episode 1 prior to Darth Maul's death. However, some people are suggesting this is the "back from the dead" version of Maul from rebels and takes place after he is cut in half. Seemed much simpler to me that the Solo movie simply takes place before Episode 1, but now I'...Read more
