In Marvel Comics, why did the Asgardians cut off contact with Midgard (i.e. Earth)?

In the Marvel Comics universe, the Norse gods are real. Thor, Odin, Loki and friends actually exist in that universe. The Earth in the Marvel Universe is pretty similar to the actual Earth, including religions and myths. Logically, the Asgardians had contact with Earth a few centuries ago, which provides the source for the Norse religion in that Earth. My question is about the time between then and the time that Thor comes to Earth in the modern day. Has it been explained why Asgard cut off contact with Earth for all that time? Why'd they...Read more

marvel - What does it take to destroy a Celestial?

The Marvel Comics' Celestials seem to be ridiculously hardy:From Thaddeus' answer to Which Celestial's head is “Knowhere”? From what we know of the Celestials in our Universe, (in the famed, Thor 3300) when confronted by the power of Odin, wearing the Destroyer, which was imbued with the power of all of Earth's Skyfather deities, and using the fire giant's Surtur's magical sword, Twilight, Odin was unable to harm even one Celestial for more than a moment. The indestructible Destroyer and Surtur's sword were destroyed seconds later. The power t...Read more

marvel - In the film, can Hank Pym / Ant-man only control ants who have been outfitted with his receivers?

Pym and Ant-man wear a transmitter. And it seems like the ants are outfitted, but there are an awful lot of them, which is not very believable. (Admittedly, this is not the least believable thing in the movie, but on the other hand, everything else is based on imaginary particles and imaginary physics -- there didn't seem to be any supposed new physics or biology at work here. Hence notably unbelievable to me.)...Read more

marvel - Are Black Widow and Hawkeye an "item"?

I believe it is hinted at in the first Avengers movie that Hawkeye and Black Widow are going to have (or currently have) a thing but in the new Captain America movie, Black Widow and Captain America are hanging out together and things seem to be getting a bit steamy between them.I was curious if anyone would like to clear this up, I always thought Captain America's love interest was Sharon Carter, the niece of Peggy Carter (who he'd known before his accident and subsequent freezing)....Read more

marvel - Are the Deadpool movies supposed to be part of the X-Men universe, or just spoofs?

I've seen Deadpool and Deadpool 2, and they share a lot of similarities to spoof movies (Airplane, Scary Movie, Naked Gun). Granted this being a superhero movie with a lot of fun content — the scenes where Deadpool sees the X-Men in the school — makes me wonder if these movies really have any connection to the other films due to the content/rating, and would be more of a spoof/casual mention within the other films....Read more

marvel - What are Deadpool's Katanas made of?

In the Deadpool movie, there is a scene where Deadpool throws one of his swords at Ajax's motorbike's front wheel and then Ajax proceeds to fly over the handle bars. Does Men in Black belong in any Marvel canon?

I am aware that the Men in Black comic book series is owned by Malibu Comics, which itself was bought out by Marvel. Because of this weird ownership, does the series belong in any Marvel continuity or canon? It couldn't be part of the main Earth-616 universe, as aliens are an everyday occurrence there. Does the comic belong to a specific universe, or is it in one all its own?...Read more
